Community Learning

In 2009 we turned a vacant shop unit into a social enterprise community café to be used for learning.

Start Point coffee shop offers free Internet access, training rooms and learning resources as well as great coffee and food. We have both a coffee shop and learning team who both work together alongside a team of local residents who volunteer as learning champions.

As a UK Online Centre we offer free IT training for those looking to get online, both in our coffee shop twice a week and out and about throughout Stockport. We currently host a free community class every day.

We have been fortunate for support from the National Institute of Adult Continual Education (NIACE) to host community cooking classes and food awareness sessions.

In addition, we host jewellery making classes, gaming groups on Xbox and PS3s, book clubs and a book exchange programme.

We are open 6 days a week from 9am – 4.30pm offering tables inside and out overlooking our much loved pedestrianised precinct of Woodley.
